Roseville Holiday Craft Fair

ELIZABETH MARIE

Early on in the set up process since the table is looking a little bare but I couldn't help but be excited for the day.

Early on in the set up process since the table is looking a little bare but I couldn't help but be excited for the day.

As I finally sit down to write this post about the Roseville Holiday Craft Fair two weeks ago, I feel like I am still relishing from my experience. Make no mistake, participating in the craft fair was a lot of work and and a lot of stress. During the process I lost and then found my car keys, lost and then recovered my parent's folding table, and lost and never found the stand legs to my display panels. I also forgot my business cards and card table stands and had to drive back home for them through Friday afternoon traffic in San Francisco.

Thank goodness I went back for those business cards, they came in handy.

The choice to participate in a craft fair in Roseville, outside of Sacramento, was two-fold. Firstly craft fairs in San Francisco are expensive, especially for an aspiring artist who is just starting out. Secondly, my friend Claudia (@cloudyartstudio) encouraged me to do the craft fair since she was participating. The other benefit was that the craft fair was far enough in the future so that there was plenty of time until the event to prepare.

The weeks proceeding the craft fair I spent a lot of late evenings packaging cards and organizing prints. My theme was gold, black and white, celebratory colors perfect for the holiday season. My dad made beautiful wood card stands for the placecards at my wedding a couple of years ago and I was glad to reuse them again to display some of my cards.

The craft fair was a huge success, I received a lot of positive feedback and constructive criticism including sketching European cities and of course Sacramento and Roseville where the fair was held. I am more than happy to sketch European cities, you don't have ask me twice!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the craft fair and especially my parents who helped me set up and take down. And of course my friend Claudia for encouraging me to do the fair in the first place and believing that I could do it!

Display table obviously in need of some organization.
